Ancient and Modern sports

Ancient and Modern Olympic sports Today I am going to be talking about the ancient and modern sports of the Olympics. Ancient Sports A long time ago in Greece there was Olympics and there were only few sports in the Olympics, the thing was that only free men who could speak Greek could join the Olympics. Greece was the only one that could participate in the Olympics and the Olympics didn’t go to different countries. Some sports that were a part of the Olympics back in the day were: Javelin, athletics, Pentathlon, and Horse Racing. In the Greek Olympics men had to do their sports naked and married women weren’t allowed to do the Olympics and if they tried to they would get a death Penalty. Modern Sports Now women are allowed to participate in the Olympics, there are new sports that are now a part of the Olympics and they are: The rugby union, golf, shooting, and water polo. Ever since the Olympics started the Olympics were held at different countries. Nowadays people use a torch for the meaning of the Olympic games going Greece to other countries. We now have values and there are three of them, they are: Friendship, Respect and Excellence. Nowadays there is something called the paralympics and it is for paralyzed people who have special talents like being able to play basketball. There values are: Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality. The differences between Ancient and Modern Sports The difference between ancient and modern is that ancient sports were only for men and modern sports has men and woman. Ancient sports has a death penalty for married woman if they try to take part in the Olympics but in modern times there is no death penalty and they get to participate in the Olympics. Ancient sports participants are considered heroes or legends when they win the whole thing but modern sports a considered winners. Ancient sports participants that win there sport were rewarded with an olive branch that you put on your head and in the modern sports you win medals: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. In ancient greece the age to join the Olympics in 12 and now it’s 16 and over. If someone had a false start they would be whipped disqualified and but in the modern sports they would just be disqualified. Modern sports is all about winning a medal, striving for success, following the Olympic values, making your country proud, and striving for victory. Ancient sports is all about showing off your skills, being a hero, and entertainment. The main difference between modern and ancient sports is that ancient sports was a long time ago even in B.C. and modern sports started in 1896. Unusual places in the world

For today my unusual place is Hapuku Lodge. It is located in the near the kaikoura mountains which is in New Zealand. Interesting fact: The houses are 30ft above the ground. The best time of the year that you can visit is probably summer. Hapuku lodge is 895.4km from Auckland. For one night it would be $1,536.

Here are 5 benefits for living there:

• You can get a great view of your surroundings.
• You can go explore your surroundings and find new things.
• You can find new animals that you haven’t seen before.
• It might be a good place for you and your family to work things out.
• It might be a good time for your kids to connect with each other and so that they can become good friends.

Here are 3 downsides for living there:

• You might be climbing up to your room but then you break something and you fall down and break an arm.
• You might be looking at the stars on the roof but then trip up on something and fall all the way to the ground and break some of your bones.
• You're probably wondering around your surroundings and than you find something chasing you and than you get bitten and than you have to go hospital.

I am learning to write down things about an Unusual Resort in the world.

What I liked about it was finding out new facts about how expensive resorts can be.

Safe (Dogs)

Safe Today I am going to talk about how to be safe around dogs, what people like about dogs and why people don’t like dogs.

What do people like about dogs?
The things that people like about dogs are that they look cute when they are born and that they look like hotdogs. The thing that I like about dogs are that they protect you from robbers or criminals. The best part about dogs are that they guide blind people around the streets and that they help stop criminals from getting away. They keep you company and they are fun to be around. They can help find drugs at the airport at at people’s homes.

What do people hate about dogs?
 The thing that people hate about dogs are that they bite people for no reason, they sniff other dogs butts. They leave fur on the couch and rip up your pillow. They might pee on you or they might pee in the garden, when you leave them in the backyard they might poop everywhere and you are left to pick it up.

 How do you keep yourself safe from dogs?
Put them on a leash in case they try to bite you or people around you, you put a muzzle around their mouth so that they don’t hurt anybody. You can call the animal control so they can take the dogs away.



The best way to be safe around dogs is to train them so that the dogs know how to act properly around humans. The main reason that people like dogs is because they are like your bestfriend, the main reason why people don’t like dogs is because they sometimes try to bite you. The best way to keep safe from dogs is to make sure that they are on a leash or that they are super trained.

My opinion on the Olympics

My Opinion on the olympics.

WALT:  Write our own opinion on if athletes are allowed to use illegal drugs in the Olympics.

Today for my information report I am going to be talking about if athletes are allowed to use illegal drugs or not.

What would you like to see changed: The thing that I would like to see changed are that nobody uses illegal drugs so that the game can be fair. The thing that I want to change is that when a couple people from one country (Russia) use illegal drugs that only they get banned so that  their teammates won’t miss out on their opportunity to participate in the Olympics.  The Olympics is a sports tournament where you show off your natural talent/skills now people are just using drugs to win.

How things would change: The thing that I would like changed is that the urine test is taken before and after they play, when they are doing a urine test someone has to go to the bathroom with them so that they don’t do anything tricky, what I would like to see changed is that they check every single athlete’s ID before they enter the Olympics so that they make sure that every single person that is joining the Olympics are actually adults.

Why things should change: The reason why things should change is so that Olympic can actually become a tournament where you can show off your amazing skills. The reason why things should change is so that people can play fair and so that when people when they don’t have to worry if they cheated or not. When they when people don’t have to worry if they took drugs. These are the reason why I want things changed.

I am learning to write my opinion on the Olympics.

Information Report: Famous
Today for my information report my topic is fame.

What does it mean to be famous: Being famous means being involved with movies or being known for doing amazing things like working at an orphanage for your whole life. Being famous means being known for a great reason. Being famous is a person that is well known around the world for a good and positive reason.

What are the benefits of being famous: The benefits of being famous is giving autographs to people who appreciate what you do, you get really good opportunities that make you even more successful or respected. You can get a lot of privileges for example: You can get a lot of money. You get to show up in advertisements. You get to buy things for your family and you get to provide them with food and shelter.

What are the downsides of being famous: A downside for being famous ios you might end up getting robbed, a lot of paparazzi might take a photo of you and it might become annoying for you. There can be a lot of stalkers that stalk you house, you might be travelling too much to your concerts and might not have enough time for your family. You might have crazy fans (Number 1 fan) that try to follow you around to get a lot of autographs.

Unusual resorts in the world.
WALT: Identify and resolve issues. I can use the skills to think critically when looking at information from a different text.

My unusual resort is Natura Vive Skylodge Adventure Suite. The place is located in the highest peak of Peru (That’s a bit scary) and it is 1,200 feet above the ground. I think that the best time to go to the Skylodge is in summer. The distance Peru is from New Zealand is 10,972 km. The skylodge is only overnight and the costs to stay there is $718.00.

Here are 5 benefits about the skylodge:
When you get up there you might see a really great view.
You might gain really strength in our arms because you climb up and down the mountain.
The place is a really good place to go exercise and go for runs.
You get really good food there and it can be a good place for you to take really good photos.
The best thing about this that you can spend really good time with your family and it can help you come together.
Here are 3 downsides about the skylodge:
One downside about the skylodge is that people might be really scared about heights and ends up not wanting to climb up to the lodge.
The second downside of the skylodge is that the ropes that attach the lodge to the mountain might rip and the guests would probably plummet to their death.
When they are climbing up and a person holds on to the ladder but a piece of the ladder breaks and they fall down to their death.
